Reversed version of print originally published in London in 1779, based on painting by Agostino Brunias (see stick fighting, Dominica, 1779 in this website). The present engraving by Ponce for Moreau de Saint Mery, Loix et Constitution des Colonies Francais (Paris, 1784, 1790). Caption: Negres jouant au baton; men stick fighting in the middle of a crowd.
